Abel Tesfaye (* 16. Februar 1990 in Toronto, Ontario) ist ein unter seinem Künstlernamen The Weeknd bekannter kanadischer R&B-Singer-Songwriter.
Bekannt wurde er durch seine Zusammenarbeit mit dem ebenfalls aus Toronto stammenden Rapper Drake und seine Veröffentlichungen auf der Video-Plattform YouTube. Am 21. März 2011 veröffentlichte Tesfaye sein erstes Mixtape »House of Balloons« auf seiner Website zum kostenlosen Download. Am 18. August 2011 erschien das zweite »Thursday«.

The song was written by him, Doc McKinney, Prince 85, Dylan Wiggins, Magnus Høiberg, and William Thomas Walsh, and produced by the singer alongside McKinney, Cirkut, Cashmere Cat, and Prince 85. It was one of the tracks of Starboy to be featured in the short film Mania. It received early airplay from urban and urban AC radio in August 2017 then was sent to rhythmic contemporary radio on September 19, 2017, as the album's fifth single in the United States.
